MURPHY’S LAW: Wednesday Preview, Hawaii Trip, Rhoads “Staying”
By Chris Hassel
Fran McCaffery says Iowa’s next opponent, South Carolina State, isn’t “terrible”. I beg to differ. Missouri beat SC State 102-51, Monday. The Hawks will roll to 10-2.
Iowa State has an interesting game on the road, Wednesday. The Cyclones play at UMKC (Kansas City). ISU agreed to play on the road if UMKC would come to Hilton 3 times. It’s what they call a “3-for-1″. I like it. I don’t care what team it is, non-conference road games help prepare you for the tough conference schedule better than playing a patsy at home.
Speaking of schedules, Northern Iowa as added another FBS team to its 2014 football schedule. The Panthers will play out west —- WAAAAY out west. UNI has a road game at Hawaii. I like it. And I’m sure the players will too. The next week is scheduled to be a bye week. That may work out awfully nice!
Paul Rhoads told a group of reporters, Sunday, that he hasn’t been contacted by Wisconsin about its head coaching opening. Rhoads also said he will be the coach at Iowa State next season. Good.
This incoming winter storm is putting a damper on my late-week plans. I have a buddy coming in from Wisconsin on Thursday. I’m guessing he won’t make it. He’s supposed to be borrowing his Mom’s car to drive to Des Moines. There’s no way Mom is going to allow her boy to drive their car in this mess.
I reached the hourly tweet limit, yesterday. I didn’t know there was such a thing. I guess I should probably rethink my priorities in life.
Erin and Sonya’s workout of the week is on in the background. I try not avoid it because it makes me tired and I’ll I’m doing is sitting here and watching.
