ENGINE PROBLEMS: Pilot Avoids Crash

A plane crash was averted at the Des Moines Airport Thursday.

The pilot of an F-16 reported his engine was malfunctioning. Police and fire crews were called to the airport to standby.

The jet was able to make a number of passes and use up fuel before coming in for a soft landing.

No one was injured.
