It was another cold day of practice down south in Memphis for the Cyclone football team.

Paul Rhoads was fired up as always as he prepares Iowa State for a rematch with Tulsa Monday afternoon.

“This victory would give us a second winning season which is very important for us to establish ourselves moving forward.”

Freshman quarterback Sam Richardson will start at quarterback for the Cyclones.

He’s thrown 7 touchdown passes with zero interceptions.

All-Big 12 linebacker AJ Klein leads the defense.

The Liberty Bowl will determine if Iowa State has a winning season, or a losing season.

Tulsa are also practicing in Memphis.

The golden hurricane designated as the home team for the liberty bowl because they’re Conference USA champions.

Tulsa is one and 21 versus BCS teams or major independents the past 13 seasons.

One of those losses was in Ames this past September.

At least 15,000 cyclone fans are expected to show up.

John Sears will cover the Bowl beginning Saturday.
