PLANNED PARENTHOOD: Fraud Dismissed

A lawsuit against Planned Parenthood of the Heartland has been dismissed Friday.

Abortion opponent and former Storm Lake clinic director, Sue Thayer accused the service provider of defrauding Medicaid of almost $28 million by illegally billing for elective abortions.

The U.S. District Judge John Jarvey dismissed the complaints because no specific examples of wrongdoing were presented to the court.

“We are happy the Court dismissed the allegations made by Ms. Thayer with prejudice, recognizing the lack of substance in the complaint,” said Planned Parenthood of the Heartland President and CEO Jill June. “We are a trusted health care provider for thousands of people across four states, and we will continue to stand up to extreme individuals and organizations that attack Planned Parenthood.”
