The man charged with sexually abusing and killing a five-year-old girl more than seven years ago will go to trial this fall.

Casey Frederiksen was arrested in September on first-degree murder and first-degree sexual abuse charges.

Investigators believe he is responsible for the death of Evelyn Miller in July of 2005. Evelyn disappeared from her Floyd home and her body was found five days later along the Cedar River. During the investigation that followed, Frederiksen, who was the fiancé of Evelyn’s mother was found guilty of child pornography charges and sentenced to 14 years in prison in 2006.

Officials say Frederiksen changed his story over the seven-year investigation and also made incriminating statements to other inmates during his incarceration.

His trial for the murder and sexual abuse charges is scheduled for October 28, 2013.

Frederiksen’s attorneys have also filed a motion for a change of venue.
