The Hawkeyes have not won a title in 3 years and are not favored when the NCAA Championships roll through Des Moines in March.

Friday marked their first big test of the dual season against #4 Ohio State

Buckeyes rolled over Iowa last year in Columbus 21-9.

In the 125 weight class 2 time National Champion Matt McDonough taking on 12th ranked Nikko Triggas, winning 11-4 to give Iowa an early 3-0 lead.

In the 133 weight class 2nd ranked Tony Ramos put on a takedown clinic. He had 14 takedowns against Kyle Visconti, Ramos with the major win 29-14.

After the Buckeyes picked up 2 wins Derek St. John gets Iowa back on track with a 4-2 win over Josh Demas.

Then a big one in the 174 weight class Mike Evans and Nick Heflin locked in a bear hug in overtime until Evans drives Heflin to the mat, a huge win for Evans 9-4.
