GM is recalling thousands of vehicles.

Over 55,000 SUVs, trucks, and vans are being recalled in the US because they might roll away while parked.

About one in 1,000 of the recalled vehicles are expected to have the defect.

The carmaker says the affected cars were built in late 2012 and they may have been built with a broken parking lock cable.

The recall includes certain Cadillac Escalades, Chevy Suburbans and Tahoes, GMC Yukons and Sierras, along with other GM vehicles.

GM will begin sending out letters to owners of affected vehicles on January 22nd and will replace the steering column as needed.
