REPUBLICAN LEADERSHIP: Spiker Retained
State Republicans leaders met Saturday to decide who will lead the party in 2013.
The State Central Committee voted to retain AJ Spiker as chairman of the Republican Party.
Spiker took over 11 months ago when Matt Strawn stepped down following his contentious announcement on the night of the Iowa caucuses.
Strawn initially declared Mitt Romney the winner but later the party determined Rick Santorum had actually won.
But some activists have complained that since Spiker took over, he’s not raised enough money and that the party is pushing Republicans away because much of the party leadership supported Ron Paul.
