The Iowa State Capitol will soon have a new piece of décor. Governor Branstad says he shot an eight-point buck Saturday afternoon.

According to the Governor, he was out hunting with a party of 15 in Decatur County just south of Leon when he got the deer.

Branstad says he’s no stranger to scoring a buck, he shot one last year and another back in 1996, but this one is his biggest.
The buck will be hung in a small conference room at the statehouse, in order not to upset Mrs. Branstad. The Governor says she will be happier if it stays at the capitol instead of being displayed in their home.
