Dense Fog, Record Highs and Winter by Weekend

Nice melting over the last 24 hours has put more moisture in the air and with little wind and steady lows tonight…we will have dense fog forming after midnight. That means visibilities through the overnight could be reduced to under 100 feet. Some areas could see zero visibility. Our temperatures will hold steady…so there will not be a problem with icy roads tonight.
Tomorrow the heat is back and we are going to see highs close to, or above the record in many areas. The record for Des Moines is 55. We set it in 1992 and tied it in 2002. I think we’ll tie it up again tomorrow.
As we hit those records tomorrow…we will be on the top of the roller coaster….looking down the vertical drop in temperatures to the 20s for the weekend.
