JOB HUNT: Employers Talk With Job Seekers

Thousands of job seekers packed Hy-Vee Hall Thursday in hopes of landing a new job.
The 8th annual Iowa Career Expo attracted over 2,000 workers of all skill levels.
The event lasted 5 hours and featured 70 employers.

Organizers say the Expo is a good way for Iowans to make a face-to-face connection with companies.

Human Resource Professionals were also on hand to help perfect resumes and speakers gave out tips on effective job searching strategies.

Iowa’s unemployment rate reached 4.9 percent in November, that was the first time the rate dropped below 5 percent since December of 2008.

The Iowa Workforce Development will release its next report, later this month.
