There’s a new higher education campus calling downtown Des Moines home.
State and local leaders celebrated the opening of a new branch of the University of Phoenix Thursday.
The university is situated in the Bank of America building on 6th Avenue.
The facility includes three classrooms and a large student resource center. The campus offers evening classes, flexible schedules, online classes and a digital library.
Gov. Terry Branstad cut the ribbon during a ceremony Thursday morning.
“We are proud you have this new facility right downtown. It shows the confidence you have in revitalization here in the state of Iowa,” said Branstad.
The new location replaces the University’s former office on Westtown Parkway in West Des Moines.
