Technology is helping one Iowa student keep up with school after surgery.

Mason City third-grader Molly Theilen underwent a rare ankle operation in the beginning of January.

The surgery forced her to stay home from school to recuperate, but Molly didn’t like the idea of missing class, so she and her teachers came up with a solution.

Molly has been attending class via Facetime an online video chatting service.

Her teacher says it has been working out well. “She interacted with us and was able to answer questions and she can hear everything we’re saying. The kids, I’m sure, enjoyed having her with us. They miss her and they were worried about her because of her surgeries,” teacher Laura Doerfler said.

Molly is expected back in class in the next few weeks, but until then she can keep up with her studies over the internet the internet.
