Des Moines Police are looking for a man they say tried to rob a gas station.

Police were called to the Phillips 66 at 3718 SW 9th Street around 1:30 a.m Thursday.

The store’s clerk said a man came in wearing a mask and gloves and handed the clerk the note pictured above, but the clerk couldn’t decipher the man’s handwriting.

The suspect did not display a weapon.

When the man tried to grab the register, the clerk pulled it back and the man ran from the store.

Police say nothing was taken in the robbery attempt and the clerk was uninjured.

The store does have security cameras and police plan to look at the video.
