The Iowa men let another game slip through their grasp on Thursday night.  The Hawks SHOULD have beaten Michigan State, they didn’t.  Even playing without leading scorer Devyn Marble the Hawks led throughout, but couldn’t finish.  Too many turnovers, missed free throws led to the loss.

Iowa will have to find a shooter the rest of the season.  Josh Oglesby is in a sophomore slump, doesn’t seem to have any confidence in his shot.  For a shooter, that’s not good.

Hawkeye fans need to remember, the NCAA tournament was a ‘possibility’ this season, not guaranteed.  This team is still young, and still learning how to win.  Next season is the year to expect an NCAA tournament.  Eric May is the only player they lose.  Add Jarrod Uthoff, Peter Jok, and Kyle Meyer to the mix and next year I EXPECT the Hawks to be in the upper tier of the Big 10 and make the NCAA tournament.

doug mcdermottDoug McDermott dropped 39 points on Missouri State.  He made 14 shots in a row, and outscored the Bears BY HIMSELF in the 2nd half.  His success still boggles my mind.  Good player in high school, unreal player in college.

Saturday will tell us a lot about the Cyclone men.  Heartbreaker in Kansas, will they bounce back against Texas?  I still think ISU makes the NCAA tournament, they proved they can hang with anyone in the country.

Melvin Ejim is the most underrated player in the country.  Mr. Phi Kappa Phi does it all.  If Ejim were 4 inches taller he’d be a lottery pick.

Porterhouse the bulldog at Drake sporting events always makes my day.  porterhouseLove that dog.

Jared Barnett is transferring from Iowa State.  I’m not surprised by this.  Barnett dropped to 3rd on the depth chart at the end of the season.  Barnett will likely transfer to an FCS school.  He won’t finish his career as a Cyclone but he gave ISU fans one of the biggest thrills ever, beating #2 Oklahoma State.
