FATAL ACCIDENT: Ice Fishing Death

One person is dead after a father and son went ice fishing in Jackson County.

KWWL reports that 68-year-old Ronald Kerkhoff and his 18-year-old son Jacob went ice fishing on the South Sabula Lakes.

Around 4.30 p.m. Friday the ice gave way with both men falling in.

Paramedics took them to Mercy North in Clinton.

Ronald died at the hospital. His son is still recovering after being released from hospital.
