MURPHY’S LAW: That’s so Raven, Cyclone bounce back, Hawks get good news
By: John Sears
What a game between Baltimore and Denver in the AFC playoffs. This is why we love the NFL. Drama. The Broncos return two kicks for touchdowns and are 30 seconds away from winning when Joe Flacco does the unthinkable. 70 yard TD with :30 seconds left? That’s something out of a movie.
Peyton Manning made the worst pass of his life, and Denver loses because of it.
My Super Bowl picks were Denver and San Francisco. Broncos are already out. As I type this the 49ers lead Green Bay 38-24. Colin Kaepernick looks unstoppable. Then again, the Packer defense is tuuurrriibblle.
Fred Hoiberg says he isn’t sure if he will ever get over the Kansas loss. His team has. The Cyclones drill Texas by 20 at Hilton. Great bounce back game. I predicted a 5th place finish in the Big 12 for Iowa State, I’m sticking with that. This team is good, and will do a lot of damage in the Big 12 this year.
Michigan State was not a ‘must-win’ for the Hawks. I think Northwestern is. Iowa cannot afford to fall to 0-4 in the Big 10 and expect to have any shot at the NCAA tournament. Is it still possible? Sure, but not likely. With games looming vs Wisconsin and Ohio State the Hawks MUST beat the Wildcats on Sunday.
Finally some positive news for the Hawkeye football team. Ross Pierschbacher gives Kirk Ferentz his verbal commitment for the 2014 recruiting class. Pierschbacher is an offensive tackle from Cedar Falls. 4-star recruit, 6’4″ 275 pounds with offers from the likes of Notre Dame, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin. They need a lot more pieces but commitments like this will help get things pointed in the right direction.
