The television series Downton Abbey has been a sensation on both sides of the pond. Now you can get a taste of aristocratic Britain in Iowa.

In honor of the recent airing of season 3 of the period drama in the US, Miss Spenser’s Special-Teas is hosting a four course tea on February 17th at 1 p.m.

During the Downton Abbey Tea Party, you can expect soup; bite size quiche; moving on to finger sandwiches; scones with lashings of cream and jam; teacakes; cookies and, of course, a bottomless pot of gourmet, loose leaf tea.

Guests will also be transported back in time with a presentation by Miss Spenser, who will portray life as a parlor maid in a fine Edwardian Country Mansion.

Co-owner, Donner Hardin says that the setting is much like you would find in an English countryside tearoom, “Our tearoom is nestled in the rolling hills of Warren County on our 140 acre farm, just 30 minutes south of Des Moines.  Our tearoom offers guests the ambience and comfort of having tea in an English-like countryside setting.”

It costs $28/person with reservations essential as tickets are pre-paid. A similar event was a sold out last September.
