Des Moines police are investigating three robberies connected to Craigslist.

The latest happened Saturday when a man went to sell his iPad on the city’s east side.

“I was looking down and showing him some of the things on it and then all of a sudden, out of nowhere that other kid came around the corner and just hit me.”

Matt Drewis told Channel 13 News that someone punched him in the face wearing brass knuckles. By the time he regained his senses, the suspect was gone and so was his iPad.

Police say something similar happened to another unsuspecting seller last weekend.

The following day, thieves robbed another person trying to buy an iPad.

“I wouldn’t say don’t shop on craigslist, just be smart when you’re buying and by all means if something seems out of the ordinary or a little bit unusual, take off,” warns Officer Jason Halifax, “No item or property is worth your safety or your health.”

Police say if you’re buying or selling on craigslist, never go alone and always meet in a public place.
