I co-hosted Soundoff for the first time tonight. I’m still alive and I didn’t receive any hate mail, at least not yet. I Had fun and I hope to do it again someday.
Soundoff is entering its 17th year, I was a freshman in high school when it started and remember watching Keith and the Round Guy host. Great show that takes a lot more work than people think.
The Hawkeyes finally won a Big 10 game. Beating Northwestern is not a milestone win for the season, but a win on the road is a good win whoever it’s against. Iowa hadn’t beaten Northwestern in the last 5 tries, great all-around game on Sunday. A win next Saturday against Wisconsin would be huge for the Hawks.
I’ve only seen 1 of the movies nominated for best picture, Argo. I really liked it. But with a 2 year old daughter, and another child on the way finding time to see a movie isn’t easy. I do want to see Silver Linings Playbook, Lincoln, and Zero Dark Thirty. I know Les Mis is the best musical of all-time but I’m just not in to seeing it. I’m sure it’s really good, but it’s just not my kind of movie. I won’t be shocked if it wins best picture.
Who’s the #1 team in college basketball? Every team in the country now has a loss after Michigan fell to Ohio State on Sunday. My guess at the new top 5. 1. Louisville 2. Duke 3. Indiana 4. Michigan 5. Kansas.
I feel bad for the Drake women. I’ve seen them play numerous times this year. They play extremely hard and have been close in a lot of games, but just don’t have that next gear to get over the hump right now.
UNI travels to Creighton on Tuesday. Hopefully they keep it closer than Drake did. Remember Doug McDermott originally committed to UNI? Man, talk about the all-time ‘kick to the stones’ in losing a player to a different school. McDermott may be the national player of the year, and Ben Jacobson had to let him go.
The NFL playoffs have been great. 2 more awesome games on Sunday, both went the way I expected. I want San Francisco-New England in the Super Bowl. Nothing against the Falcons and Ravens but the 49ers and Pats push the needle a little more for me.
