HOMICIDE CASE: McKinley Charged With Murder

A man has been charged in the first homicide of 2013.

Des Moines Police arrested 42-year-old Lavelle Lonelle McKinley on a warrant Wednesday morning. Upon questioning him about the death of 47-year-old Cynthia Rouse, Police charged McKinley with first degree murder in her death.

Rouse was found in her apartment at 1050 21^st Street Monday morning. Police say there were signs of trauma to her body that indicated her death was a homicide, but have not released a cause of death.
