Des Moines police have released the name of a man they’re questioning as a person of interest in the city’s first homicide of 2013.

Forty-two-year-old Lavelle Lonelle McKinley, also known as O.G. McKinley, was originally sought on a material witness warrant in the case but was located shortly after it was issued.

Police saw McKinley walking near 7th and Hickman around 11:00 Wednesday morning and asked him to stop.  McKinley refused and confronted the officer. The Officer tased McKinley and arrested him.

McKinley is being questioned in connection with the homicide of 47-year-old Cynthia Rouse. Her body was found in her apartment at 1050 21st Street Monday morning. Police say there were signs of trauma to her body but have not released a cause of death.
