Students at Indianola Middle School were able to return to class less than 24 hours after a fire started in the building, thanks to a newly installed sprinkler system.
Fire crews were called to the building around 8 p.m. Thursday to put out a fire in the custodial area of the seventh grade wing.
According to the State Fire Marshall a sprinkler system installed just last year, saved the fire from being much worse.
The fire was contained to a small area with minimal damage.
School leaders were able to get the sprinkler water cleaned up overnight and school started on time Friday morning.
Firefighters are still looking into what caused the fire.
