An eastern Iowa restaurant burned down Thursday morning and smoke from the fire could be seen on I-80.
The fire at Del’s Eatery and Pub in Eldridge was reported around 8:20 a.m. Officials say the owner and two customers discovered the fire and called 911.
Witnesses said the fire grew quickly, ravaging the building.
Firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze from outside because it wasn’t safe to enter the building. About an hour after the fire was reported part of the building’s roof collapsed.
Several fire departments assisted with the fire fight.
No injuries were reported.
