The man who engineered what is widely considered the biggest win in Cyclone football history will stay with ISU, but not the one you’re thinking of.
Jared Barnett says he will transfer to Illinois State University.
He tweeted on Thursday, “Well its official. I’m headed up to Illinois State in a few days to join the Redbird nation!”
Barnett started on and off for two seasons, consistency was his main enemy as he battled Steele Jantz for the starting position and was eventually passed by Sam Richardson for the #2 spot.
He announced last week, he was looking for a better fit.
Illinois State is an FCS program, so Barnett will be allowed to play next season. That includes a game against Northern Iowa.
Barnett led Iowa State to upsets over three ranked teams: Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, and TCU.
