DEFAMATION CASE: Boswell Drops Lawsuit

A defamation lawsuit filed against former Iowa lawmaker Ed Fallon has been dropped.

Former Congressman Leonard Boswell filed the suit after Fallon claimed he was offered an $80,000 a year job by Boswell staffers if he would forgo running against Boswell in a 2008 primary.

Fallon filed a countersuit in the case but it was recently dismissed by a judge. Fallon says he was notified by his lawyer that Boswell has now dropped the defamation suit.

Boswell lost his bid for re-election to the House in November after redistricting placed him in the third district against Rep. Tom Latham.
