Voters in northeast Iowa head to the polls Tuesday to choose a new representative for House District 52.

Brian Quirk, a Democrat, was originally elected but resigned his seat to take a job with the New Hampton Municipal Light Plant.

A special election is being held Tuesday to fill the seat. Three men are vying for the job: Republican Dennis Litterer, Democrat Todd Prichard, and independent candidate Craig Clark.

House District 52 covers all of Floyd and Chickasaw counties as well as part of Cerro Gordo County.
