INSUFFICIENT FUNDS: Man Writes $60k In Bad Checks
An Ames man is facing theft charges after bouncing some big checks.
The Ames Tribune reports that 34-year old Justin Nelson opened a checking account in December and put $5 in it. He was given a book of starter checks, which he used to make $60,000 in purchases. Those purchases included a $16,000 car and a truck with a snow blade.
When the checks bounced the police came looking for Nelson. Now, he’s in the Story County Jail charged with first and second degree theft.
