This weekend, Iowans will celebrate African American culture  with I’ll Make Me A World in Iowa.

The event kicks off Friday with an education day for middle and high school students.

Later on in the day, there will be the Embracing Excellence Gala at the Grand Ballroom of Veterans Memorial Auditorium.

The celebration day is Saturday, its free and will be at Hy-Vee Hall from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.

The headliners this year are actors Billy Dee Williams and Pooch Hall and gospel artist, Lady Tramaine Hawkins.

Local and national performers will also take to three stages.

There are also exhibits, food, vendors and inflatable rides and game for kids.
