The Iowa DNR is releasing 1,400 rainbow trout into Lake Petocka in Bondurant Saturday.
Some brood fish will also be added to the water all of which happens at noon.
The DNR will have experienced anglers at Petocka Lake to help people learn how to fish.
Biologists with the DNR say the fish should be biting right away so they are encouraging families to give ice fishing a try.
Next weekend, the DNR will be stocking Ada Hayden Lake in Ames with more than 2,000 rainbow trout.
