ICY FIRE: Cold Temperatures Challenge Firefighters

Frigid temperatures made fire fighters’ job in Eastern Iowa more difficult Friday.

The American Finishings factory in Eldridge caught fire Friday morning.

The company specializes in removing coatings from metal and other materials. Firefighters say one of the burners the company uses caught on fire.

It only took about 15 minutes to put out the flames, but while on the scene two firefighters slipped and fell on the icy ground.

No one was seriously hurt.
