After 19 years with NASA, an Iowa astronaut is hanging up his space suit.

Iowa state graduate Clayton Anderson spent 167 days in outer space since joining NASA in 1983.

The astronaut announced Friday he is retiring.

Anderson has been on multiple missions to space, including a five month stay aboard the International Space Station in 2007.
