Todd Lickliter was known for the slow it down style of basketball; low scoring games.

Sunday at Purdue it was as if Lickliter came back to coach the Hawkeyes.

At least in the first half. 2006 was the last win for Iowa in West Lafayette. The first half was about as bad as you'll see.

Hawks make just 4 baskets, shot 15%, and only scored 16 points.

The good news, they only trailed by 3 at the break.

The 2nd half was a different story. Mike Gesell shot 18 for the freshman getting them within 3 at  45-42.

Aaron White on the break was fouled. He makes the free throw to give Iowa their first lead of the game  51-50 and 12 for White.

In the final seconds, Devyn Marble had a chance to win it, but no.  Melsahn Basabe with the the game heads to OT tied at 54.

In the OT with 30 seconds left and  Iowa down 2, Marble had another chance for a big shot, but again, another miss in close.

That does it. Hawks fall to Purdue 65-62.  Iowa now 2-5 in the Big 10.
