Dozens of people living in homeless camps in Des Moines have overstayed their welcome.

The city handed out notices in mid-January telling residents of camps on public land that they were trespassing and had to move by Tuesday, January 29 or else they would be removed.

City officials say, there is no reason for the continued trespassing since they built a new homeless shelter last year, and they want people should take advantage of it.

Not everyone will have to move by Tuesday. At least three people living in the camps have appealed the eviction notice.
