ROAD RE-OPENED: Westbound I-80 Open Again

Two accidents forced the shut down of the westbound lanes of I-80 near Newton for about 4 hours Wednesday afternoon.

The Iowa State Patrol said the road was closed between Exit 159 and Exit 164.

One of the accidents involved three semis and just a few miles away there was another accident involving multiple vehicles. There’s no word on whether there were injuries in the accidents.

Officials had a hard time clearing the accidents because they couldn’t get tow trucks to them.
