Rescue crews had to save a man when his car fell through the ice on a northern Iowa lake Wednesday.
The DNR says 20-year-old David Hand drove onto the ice on Clear Lake to go ice fishing when his SUV broke through and sank. Hand was not seriously injured.
The vehicle is submerged in about 10 feet of water and will be pulled out by a recovery firm Thursday.
This in the second time in two weeks a car has fallen through the ice on Clear Lake.
The DNR says you should never drive a vehicle onto a frozen body of water no matter how thick you think the ice is because it’s hard to spot inconsistencies.
