No fans actually call it “the Heroes’ Game”, but the Iowa-Nebraska football game on Black Friday provides both teams some national spotlight.
With that kind of attention, the talk Iowa might bow seemed crazy, but it was all just rumors.
Both Iowa and Nebraska say they’ll ask the Big Ten to keep the would-be rivalry the day after Thanksgiving.
“There’s a process we have to finalize within the Big Ten and we’ll go through that process, but both schools are interested in that continuing,” said Gary Barta, Iowa director of athletics.
Nebraska won the first two meetings with Iowa since joining the Big Ten. The game will go back to Lincoln next season.
