EDUCATION REFORM: Teacher Pay Raise Issue

Iowa legislators will be discussing Gov. Terry Branstad’s education reform plan at a House Education subcommittee meeting Tuesday night.

The meeting begins at 5:00 p.m. at the Statehouse and is the fourth and likely final meeting on House Study Bill 4.

The group will focus on section five of the bill, which would boost starting pay for teachers to $35,000.

Branstad says raising base pay will keep good teachers in Iowa schools.
