The man accused of inappropriately touching at least one child at an in-home daycare in Des Moines has waived his preliminary hearing.

Forty-eight-year-old David Smith is charged with second degree sexual abuse. He was originally scheduled to appear in court Thursday.

Authorities say he abused at least one child at his wife’s daycare in the 3200 block of East 52nd Street. Police reports show Smith is accused of committee the crime in 2008.

Smith’s next court hearing is scheduled for February 28th.
