A state house subcommittee discussed a bill related to women’s health on Wednesday.

The bill would require mammograms to include breast tissue density information.

Studies show as breast density increases so does the risk for breast cancer.

During Wednesday’s discussion the Iowa Medical Society raised some concerns about the language in the bill as well as the limited number of places that perform 3-D mammograms.

The bill didn’t make it out of the subcommittee, but backers say they’ll work to resolve the issues in hopes of moving the bill forward at a later date.
