The Boy Scouts of America have been making headlines nationally and locally as they decide whether to allow openly gay members. Now, politicians are weighing in to the conversation, too.

Senator Charles Grassley says the Boy Scouts of America should consider letting the decision be made on the local level.

“If they want to do something nationally, leave it up to the local chapters to decide how best it fits for their community.”

Grassley says he contributes to the Boy Scouts and will continue to do so whether or not gay scouts and leaders are allowed to join.
