MURPHY’S LAW: Groundhawks Day, Coffee Boost, Motherland Calls

The Iowa Hawkeyes left it all on the court at Wisconsin. The Hawks appeared to have a much-needed quality road win in their grasp, and again it got away. This time in double OT. The season has turned into Groundhog Day. We keep seeing the same game over-and-over.

Devyn Marble continues to struggle. Marble is definitely having a crisis of confidence, and likely isn’t 100% physically healthy either. I thought he should be benched vs Wisconsin.  Fran McCaffery started Marble. It didn’t pay. He was 1-10 from the field. He is shooting around 25% in Big Ten play. It’s a “What if?” season for many reasons…

Aaron White made several great plays for Iowa. Unfortunately, Freshman Mike Gesell didn’t notice White wide open at the end of regulation. Josh Oglesby’s three rimmed out to send the game to overtime…

Drake always seems to do this lately. Just when I think the Bulldogs have turned a corner, they lose ugly. Wednesday night, the Dogs blew a 17 point lead to Illinois State. At home. Drake could not handle the Redbird press at crunch time…

I’m not a passionate “fan” of any D1 football team. Notre Dame is the closest I come to emotionally investing. And look where that got Te’o. (My alma mater, Valdosta State is D2. Did I mention the Blazers won the national championship in football? Again. I know. You don’t care.) Maybe not being a die-hard fan of any major conference team is why I don’t care about national signing day. At all. I study. I cover. I don’t care.

National signing day is like following your retirement fund. It’s somewhat exciting, until you remember it doesn’t pay for years…

John Sears has a great story Thursday night at ten…

Is Movie 43 really that bad? I’ve never seen so many people say a movie is downright awful…

Chicago Fire hooked me. Didn’t see that coming…

I’m starting to read, “Francona: The Red Sox Years”. I wonder if Norwalk’s Joel Hanrahan will read it…

I now drink coffee. I’m not sure how I lived without it for several decades…

My wife and I just finalized a plan to visit Ireland, with my parents and sister and bestest buddy. Mom and dad say it’s their final trip to the motherland. We’re going to hit as many villages, castles, and pubs as possible. Not in that order…
