TRIAL SET: Murder Suspect Pleads Not Guilty

The first degree murder trial of a Waterloo man police say shot and killed a Des Moines man has been set for April.

Twenty-seven-year-old Anthony Gardner was visiting Waterloo on December 22nd, 2012 when he was killed. His body was found on the front porch of 27-year-old Orlando Moore, Jr.’s home.

Witnesses told police the two had argued before Gardner was shot. He was taken into custody the morning of the shooting for probation violations and later charged with Gardner’s murder.

Moore was in Black Hawk County court Thursday where he entered a not guilty plea. KWWL reports his attorney demanded speedy trial rights.

Moore’s trial has been set for April 9th.
