PRINCIPAL UPGRADES: Large Investment Considered

The metro’s third largest non-government employer has plans for a new $238.5-million look.

The Principal Financial Group employs more than 6,000 workers and the company’s looking to now give them a bigger, more modern downtown campus.

Proposed ideas include improvements to information technology, interior upgrades, repairs and maintenance to buildings, and a private skywalk across 8th Street to connect two of their buildings.

Des Moines City Council members will discuss the plans at a meeting Monday.
