BIKE PROJECT: Phase One Considered

The Des Moines City Council will consider approving an agreement with the Iowa Department Of Transportation to authorize phase one of the downtown bicycle implementation plan, Monday.

The DOT will assist with about three fourths of the $330,000 project that plans to create bike lanes and develop access through the downtown area.

They want to make improvements along seven roads, including Grand Avenue and Locust Street.

The City hopes this will bring business and life downtown as well as provide easier access to the new Dart transit hub.
