OPEN SEAT: Election To Fill Council Vacancy

Voters in West Des Moines’ ward two will head to the polls Tuesday to fill a vacant city council seat.

John Mickelson and Lucas Casey are on the ballot.

The winner will fill the seat vacated by Charles Schneider, who was elected to serve in the Iowa Senate following the passing of Pat Ward.

Ward two roughly includes the area west of Valley West Mall, and north of Mill Civic Parkway.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
