An Urbandale athlete is creating a buzz in the college football world.
At this time next year, Allen Lazard could be Iowa State’s most hyped recruit in decades.
Rivals.com released its class of 2014 rankings on Monday, and named Lazard the nation’s #1 wide receiver.
The Jayhawk junior racked up more than 900 yards receiving in the 2012 season, with 11 catches for touchdowns.
He’s drawn interest from many big-time programs, including Ohio State and Nebraska, but he has given ISU his verbal commitment.
Other coaches are expected to try and sway Lazard, because a verbal commitment is non-binding. However, Lazard’s brother plays at Iowa State, and his dad was a Cyclone in the early 90’s so ISU has tradition on their side.
