A local businessman who was accused of cheating clients out of tens of thousands of dollars last summer is back in business.

"I think that dirty no good, he took us for about $9,000 and we haven't retrieved it yet." says Becki Darnall, one of the customers who says she was conned by Dan and Terri Stalzer when the Stalzers closed up shop at the Flooring Warehouse in Clive, pocketing about $80,000 in prepaid deposits, according to former employees.

Now, the Stalzers are running another business called Iowa Tile and Restoration LLC.

Former customers and employees hope now they’ll get paid what they say they’re owed. "I think it's sick that somebody can get away with it." former employee Ryan Thornburg says, "I think it doesn't make any sense to me how somebody can leave all these people, take all that money, and just get by like nothing ever happened. Me personally, I'm still trying to get caught up on the late payments, money I had to borrow to pay my bills."

We knocked on the door of the Stalzer’s $300,000 Clive home, but no one answered.
