DOG SHOW: National Champ Returns

A home-grown national champion returned to the state to compete this weekend.

At last weekend’s Westminster Kennel Club dog show, Solborg Faramir, better known as Lor, won the Best of Breed title garnering national attention.

The 3 year old Swedish Vallhund is owned by Angelic Vetter, an Indianola native. This weekend saw them compete in the Cyclone Country Kennel Club of Ames Dog Show held at Iowa State Fair Grounds in Des Moines.

Indianola will also be represented by another Vallhund returning from competing in New York, Pippi Longstocking owned by Camille Telleen. They earned a Select award in Madison Square Garden.

In total, around 1,500 top dogs from the US and Canada are competing this weekend, many of which were also shown at the Westminster Dog Show. Sunday is the last day of competition with doors open from 8 a.m. until 5p.m. There is a $1 entry fee.
