Nominations are open for the Iowa Farm Environmental Leader award.
Gov. Terry Branstad says the award is a way to lift up Iowa farmers who take measures to improve soil and water quality, in hopes that other farmers will follow their lead.
It’s a new program that was started through a partnership.
“The Iowa Environmental Leader award was started last year through a partnership between the Governor’s Office, and Department of Agriculture, and the DNR. And similar to Century or Heritage Farm awards we hope this program will continue to grow,” says Branstad.
Nominations are due by June 15th.
Last year, 67 Iowa farm families were recognized during the Iowa State Fair.
